This Gaurabda Panchanga is designed as a handy tool for students of Vedic Astrology. By mere reference to this Panchanga, you can easily and quickly cast a horoscope chart and fill in the positions of the Navagraha (nine planets) and Lagna (ascendant) in the Rasi and Navamsa charts (without having to rely on a computer).
The Panchanga simultaneously displays the Vedic synodic (luni-solar) calendar based on the differential movement between the Sun and the Moon, as well as the solar calendar based solely on the Sun's movement, while revolving through the Gaurabda calendar system which culminates with Sri Gaura Purnima, the full Moon annual anniversary of the advent of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in 1486 in India. As the most merciful incarnation of the Supreme Lord, He propagated the chanting of the Hare Krishna mahamantra as the solution for the ills of this age.
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare

The Panchanga’s clockwork mechanism is the movement of the Sun and the Moon relative to the Earth. Every element in the Panchanga has a cosmic bearing. The travel of the Sun and the Moon in the signs of the sidereal zodiac, sunrise, sunset, new Moon, full Moon and other luni-solar days and half-days (tithis and karanas), are the gearwheels of this cosmic mechanism. Human arbitrariness has no place in this system of time measurement, where the real timekeepers are the Sun and the Moon - the eyes of the Supreme Lord Hari (Krishna).
The Panchanga has five major components. They are Vara (day of week, defined as the period from sunrise to next sunrise), Tithi (luni-solar day), Karana (luni-solar half-day), Nakshatra (special constellation based on the Moon's position) and Yoga (an entity defined by the combined movement of the Sun and the Moon).
The movement of these entities and the longitudes of the Navagraha and Lagna in the Rasi and Navamsa charts of the Vedic sidereal zodiac are displayed daily in this Panchanga to serve diverse purposes. Astrological work, like casting a newborn’s horoscope chart; or to answer a prashna (query) based on the planetary positions at the moment the question is put. Or for scheduling birth/death rites and other samskaras (purificatory rituals). Or to check the luni-solar anniversary dates of religious events and personal events.
